Activate the New Safety Features
One of the newest features that Apple introduced in the iPhone 14 is the safety features of your device. To enable the safety features, go to the Settings option of your device and enable the Emergency SOS option. From this section, you will see a lot of features that are surely helpful for your own safety.
- Call After Serious Crash – Enabling this feature will allow your device to automatically call any of the emergency numbers added to your device. This feature will be triggered if a major crash happens to your phone.
- Call with 5 Presses – Pressing the side button 5 consecutive times will allow your device to call the emergency number on your list. If you’re in a city where crimes usually happen, this feature is quite useful without the people around you noticing.
Enable Face ID with a Mask and Glasses
Face ID is already a great feature, but you can even further enhance the security of your device by enabling Face ID with a Mask feature. With the ongoing health problems that we have right now, unlocking your device while wearing a facemask in public is much easier. If you’re a person who wears glasses, we recommend that you also enable the Add Glasses feature.
Enable Erase Data Feature
This feature will allow your device to automatically erase all of the contents to ensure that your identity is safe. This feature will only trigger if a wrong password is entered 10 times. If you’re the kind of person who always forgets the password, we recommend that you write it down and store it somewhere as a backup. If your device gets stolen, then rest assured that no one can access all the data that you have on your device.
Display Optimization
The latest iPhone comes with an excellent display, which is why you should definitely make some changes to get the most out of it. In the Display & Brightness option, you can choose between Light and Dark modes. Both of these modes have their own advantages, but it depends on where you’re comfortable. Light mode is best for use during the day, while Dark mode is best for use at night to protect your eyes from strain. You can use both of these features automatically by enabling the Automatic button.
Apart from these, another useful feature that we recommend using is the True Tone feature under the Brightness section. Basically, the True Tone feature will automatically adjust the screen brightness and hue depending on your surroundings.
Save Battery With Notifications
Saving your battery life is one of the things that you should always keep in mind. Notifications are one of the main reasons why your battery life is getting shorter and shorter. And because of that, we recommend that you turn off every notification on your device that is not important. Here’s how to turn off notifications to save battery life:
- Go to Settings.
- Scroll down and find the Notifications option.
Under the Notification Style option, you will see every application installed on your device. We recommend that you turn off the notifications from the apps that you rarely use.
In our case, we only enable notifications for emails, SMS, calls, Facetime, Facebook, and other social media apps that we frequently use.
Save Battery With App Refresh
To further save battery consumption, another thing that you need to check is the app refresh of your device. To turn off the app refresh, check out the steps below.
- Open the Settings menu of your device.
- Go to the General option.
- Open the Background App Refresh option.
From here, you can enable or disable the apps that you rarely use. Games, shopping apps, grocery apps, and more are some of the applications that we recommend turning off.
Customize the Control Center
The Control Center is another feature that you need to customize. Control Center will allow you to easily access some of the useful features of your device, such as mobile data, WiFi, flashlight, and more. But how can you customize the Control Center?
- Go to Settings.
- Scroll down and find the Control Center option.
- From here, you can set the features that you want to appear in your Control Center.
Use Action Mode Correctly
One of the things that we get in the iPhone 14 is the Action Mode. What this feature does is allow you to have more stable shots when using your camera. Note that this feature can only be used in the video mode of your camera. To enable the Action Mode, simply click the running man icon, which is next to the flash icon.
Always Have a Backup
We already mentioned in this guide about the auto erase data. If you enable that feature, you’ll surely want to enable this feature too. The best way to back up your iPhone is through iCloud. All Apple users can freely use iCloud. Here’s how to enable automatic backup of your iPhone.
- Go to the Settings menu.
- Click on your name.
- Click the iCloud option.
- Turn on the iCloud Backup option.
By default, Apple is offering 5 GB of data storage for free. If you have a lot of data, then your only option is to pay Apple to give you extra iCloud storage.
