Thymesia is a soul-like RPG game developed by OverBorder Studio. The game will bring you into a world where death is currently spreading. You will be playing as Corvus, and your mission is to learn the truth within your memories.
There are lots of soul-like video games out there, but Thymesia has some unique features that lure many gamers. The start of the game may be a bit easy, but as you progress through the story, you will soon encounter hard-to-beat enemies. To avoid getting killed from time to time, we’re here to give you some of the most important things that you need to know and will give you a head start.
Learn to Use the Claw
The claw is one of your main weapons to take down enemies. But did you know that the claw has some hidden effects that you need to take advantage of? Apart from the damage that you can give to your enemies, the claw has a special effect that stops the enemies from regenerating. This is, in fact, the main purpose of the claw.
While you’re fighting an enemy, you will see their health bar depleting as you attack them. There are usually two colors that you’ll notice on the enemy’s health bar – white and green. The white bar represents their current health, while the green bar represents the health that they can regenerate.
When you attack an enemy, their health goes down and you will see both white and green. If you see an opening, it is highly recommended to use the claw to remove the green bar so that the enemy’s health bar will stay on the white bar.
Using the claw on an enemy with a green health bar will remove their ability to restore the health that they lost during the battle.
Unlock the Talents
Your attack skills and weapons are not enough to take down enemies, which is why you should unlock some talents in the game. These talents are unlocked to give you more flexibility and deal more damage against your enemies. Talents are unlocked by using Talent Points that you collect as you progress through the game.
In Thymesia, there are some talents that are considered non-progressive talents that you can unlock without unlocking all the skills on the skill tree that you selected. Some of these non-progressive skills are Energised Weapon and Sharp Weapons. You can unlock these two example skills by spending 1 Talent Point each.
It is also worth noting that Thymesia allows you to reset the skill that you have already selected. What’s also good is that you can even reset the skills by section. All the Talent Points that were previously used when unlocking the skills will be added back to your current Talent Points.
Understand Plague Weapons
The weapons in Thymesia are not just ordinary weapons that you can equip on the go. While there are lots of weapon options to choose from, we recommend that you stick to a single weapon as these weapons have a second-level feature that will increase the damage and give you more passive effects.
But why do we recommend using a single weapon? Well, Skill Shards are one of the hardest resources that you can find in the game. If you randomly upgrade some weapons and eventually face a strong enemy, you may find yourself stuck and getting killed every time you encounter the enemy. It is important that you always plan your next weapon before using the Skill Shards that you already have.
Save Your Progress
You don’t want to lose all of your game progress, right? This is why it is highly recommended that you sit on a beacon when you find one. Some players are always forgetting to sit on a beacon after they unlocked it, resulting in losing all of their progress. Saving your progress is surely one of the most important things that you need to do, especially when you have defeated a strong boss or have enough points that you don’t want to lose.
Wisely Use Forgotten Feathers
Forgotten Feathers will allow you to reset your attribute points. This will give allow you to change the previous attributes that you have upgraded.
A potion is a Must
Just like in any other video game, there are lots of potions that you can use in Thymesia. These positions will have different effects, such as boosting your damage, defense, and health. Before acquiring a potion, players need to craft it by combining the necessary requirements.
There are eight types of potions that can be crafted in the game. Note that you need to consume these potions to use their effects, as equipping them doesn’t do anything. The ingredients needed to craft potions are scattered around the map, but some of them are dropped by defeating enemies.
Thymesia is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Windows PC via Steam.
